Cottages:
Accommodation on Mafia Island consists of separate cottages that are widely spaced for total privacy and exclusivity. Up to 30 guests can be accommodated in 14 bungalows.
All the cottages are en-suite with hot water and have ample hanging space, a desk and chair, verandah, chairs and table, full-length mirror, ceiling fan for cool air and power outlets in the bathroom for hair dryers and electric shavers. All the rooms have king size beds to give you comfortable accommodation on Mafia Island.
Your accommodation on Mafia Island has safe drinking water; tap water is from the lodge wells, but please do not drink it. All the water and ice in the bar and dining room is safe to drink as it has been treated by chlorination and katadyne filters.
The Pavilion:
Accommodation on Mafia Island includes a traditional thatch building elegantly raised on twelve concrete columns, open on all sides for coolness and draped with all-weather curtains of white canvas. Furnished with antiques collected over the years, including leather club chairs, wooden Moroccan Jewish armchairs, and Indian settees in teak and cane, it really is one of the most elegant buildings at Kisani Island Lodge.
The Pavilion houses the billiards table, books, magazines and satellite TV, making it a lovely place to spend time reading in the afternoons. It was originally designed and located to provide a retreat when wind or rain made it impossible to enjoy the sea. There is always something for you to do and you can always enjoy the food and beverage service, despite bad weather.
Even if you are very active the swimming pool will provide a wonderful focus for cooling off, catching-up on your reading, and chatting. There is a Pool Bar and Grill to provide all-day drinks, coffee / tea, lunch and a snacks service. You don't even have to move! Just snap your fingers and one of the waiters will be at your side to make your accommodation on Mafia Island perfect.
Cuisine:
The cuisine at your accommodation on Mafia Island is a mixture of European and Eastern with an emphasis on seafood, fresh local produce, grills and home-made condiments. You can have breakfast in the dining room or on the terrace. An English style breakfast with fresh fruit, fruit juice, home-made yoghurt, cereals and toast is served.
Lunch is served as a buffet at the Pool Bar and Grill, with freshly-cooked seafood, chicken or meat barbecue off the charcoal grill, accompanied by a wide selection of salads and antipasti. There is a real Italian pizza oven and many of the dishes are baked there. Dinner is set in the dining room on a table d'hote basis or as special themed meals at the Pool Bar and Grill. This will include Thai food, Italian (including pizzas), Swahili buffets, and seafood barbecues. Please advise management ahead of your arrival if you have special dietary requirements.
