Just 25 miles south of Mombasa and Moi International Airport, on the beautiful Galu Kinondo Beach, Kenya lies Pinewood Beach Resort, a small intimate boutique hotel.

Surrounded by colourful tropical gardens, manicured lawns and backing on to a forest, Pinewood Beach Resort enjoys a superb position on Galu Kinondo Beach one of Kenya's finest. This secluded beach has warm waters, a lagoon and many great diving spots.

Aqualand, the watersports centre at Pinewood chose this area because of the excellent conditions at Galu Kinondo Beach, Kenya. The lagoon is calm, perfect for watersports, and the beach is far from the madding crowd. Guests can happily learn to Scuba Dive, Windsurf and Kite Board go snorkelling and deep sea fishing.

Pinewood Resort and Aqualand operate a strict tag and release programme, which is in accordance with the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) regulations for the preservation of rare and endangered species.

The Resort is in close proximity to the Pemba Channel, which is famous for its deep water and abundant fish stocks. Good catches of Marlin and Sailfish, Wahoo, Kingfish and Dorado has been achieved.

Scuba divers at Pinewood often see Whale Sharks, Dolphins and Manta Rays at various excellent dive spots in the area. Boat excursions take guests along the pristine coastline to snorkelling points in front of Chale Island and the Kaya Kinondo Reserve, guests can also take a Jet Ski safari to view the Mangrove Forests at Funzi Bay.

For something different guests can mountain bike through the sacred Kaya Kinondo Forest and meet the Digo community on a cultural visit which is part of an Eco-tour available through Aqualand.

The gardens at Pinewood Beach Resort attract the adventurous grey Sykes Monkeys. Living in the forest nearby is a family troop of Angolan Colubus Monkeys, a shy and endangered species with black and white colouring. Over 100 bird species have been recorded, shorebirds, birds of prey and migrants such as bee-eaters.

Pinewood Beach Resort and Aqualand are members of The East African Wildlife Society (EAWS), Eco-Tourism Society of Kenya (ESOK) and the Project Aware Foundation as well as being home to the East Africa Whale Shark Trust (EAWST).
